Two brothers were arrested at the luxurious Zimbali Coastal Estate on Monday after a coordinated police operation uncovered illegal firearms and drugs worth about R450 000.
Among the multiple illegal arsenals that were found at two properties on the estate, law enforcement teams found a ghee bucket filled with ammunition.

They recovered 6 illegal firearms (AK-47s, pistols, and CZ Scorpion), 1 sonic grenade, over 1 200 rounds of ammunition, 1 gram of cocaine powder, and 2 smartphones. The contents seized had an estimated value of R450 000.
The brothers were arrested and are facing charges related to the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
In a statement, Invisible Crime Interpol (ICI), a security services firm, said: “The sheer volume of live ammunition, particularly the 709 AK-47 rounds, suggests a sophisticated operation or significant illegal arms dealing.”
The planned operation was carried out by the Durban Metro Police Service Drug Team, the Trio Crimes B Group of the South African Police Service, SAPS Economic Infrastructure Task Team, DPCI Port Shepstone, the Durban Flying Squad, counter narcotics, district detectives, crime intelligence.
