THIS year, Durban comedienne Natashia Munian (Bash with Tash) is on a mission to help three girls experience the magic of prom by offering complimentary beauty services, ensuring every young woman feels like a princess on her special night.
Attending the matric prom is a significant milestone for pupils, which marks the end of their schooling career. However, many pupils may miss this opportunity due to financial difficulties or constraints.
This year, Munian will make the dreams come true for three girls, and help them look glamorous for their prom.
“Every girl wants to feel special on this night and we want to create this beautiful happiness. As women, it’s important to set leadership roles and encourage these young women to give back the ripple effect. Also, no girl should feel pressured on this day. It should be a relaxed and special day.

“It’s the night these young ladies get to dress up and feel like princesses. There is often pressure in the home and some ladies never get the opportunity to feel this way. On this night, every girl should feel like the belle of the ball,” said Munian.
She added that although she did not believe in raising funds for prom, she did believe that every pupil should shine on their special day.
“I love this kind of event. It gives our little ladies and gentlemen a chance to get dressed up and feel great. However there is one thing I strongly do not believe in – that the pupils who collect the highest amount of money should be crowned prom king and queen. I believe everyone should be crowned and treated like a queen or king. Money should not determine your title. This is especially for those parents who do not have a lot of money. They should not be made to feel bad or lesser than the next person,” she said.
Munian said this was not the first time she helped pupils for prom. She had done so in the past.
“It was such a beautiful moment. There was a young girl who cried with joy and her words were sad. She said ‘at least they won’t bully me now’.
“This broke my heart and also made me realise that kids go through so much. Little gestures like these can make a difference, which is why I am going to do it again,” said Munian.
She is offering three lucky girls, who lack the funds to attend prom, a chance to have their hair, nails and make-up done at her Westwood Saxony Bash with Tash Beauty Empire salon.
