RISING Durban author Lauren Bianca Maduray enchants fantasy readers once again with the release of her fourth novel, 'The Realm.'
This captivating tale of royal rivalry between a cruel king and a gentle princess explores themes of trust, love, and healing within a richly imagined kingdom setting.
Known for her imaginative storytelling, Maduray continues to enchant readers with her unique voice in the fantasy genre.
Maduray’s "The Shadower" a superhero novel was released in 2021 while "His Wolf Her Horse" and "Bring It All Back," which explores the whimsical themes of love and fantasy, were released earlier this year.
“The Realm” promises an immersive journey filled with magic, mystery, and unexpected twists. I am a huge lover of fantasy, vintage themes and romance especially dealing with kingdoms and kings.
“This book leans more towards kingdoms, kings and princesses, it is fictional but more descriptive in terms of heirs and rivalries,” she said.
In "The Realm" Maduray delves into the intense rivalry between two kingdoms - a cruel king named Rayon and a gentle princess, Keria.

Maduray said the novel was about the rivalry between two kingdoms, a cruel king named Rayon and a gentle princess, Keria. As their world became intricately intertwined, secrets lurked beneath the surface, creating an exciting tension that drove the narrative forward.
She said the most challenging part about this book was writing it in a period setting.
“In the 21st century, it is difficult to fit yourself into a kingdom set in the 1920's or 1800's. We do not have the same structure or regulations regarding kingdoms as it was then. Doing research on what you plan to write on is important. It may not be as detailed as the 1800's but as long as you have the main essence of that era.”
She said the book highlights one's character, especially trust.
“This book will make one think of their own emotions of understanding, love and trust. Sometimes we create a hard exterior to protect a feeling we did not want in the first place but in that we have to find a way to heal so we do not bleed on others.”
She added her writing process had changed since her first book.
“Imagination grows with every idea. Depending on your setting of the book will determine which writing style you chose. Writing is one of my passions so even if it means burning the midnight oil to finish I would. In order to be successful there are sacrifices that need to be made.”
Maduray said there would be a part 2 in this series in the future.
