RESPECTED Pietermaritzburg advocate and Hindu Maha Sabha president (SAHMS) Ranjiv Nirghin has been recommended by the Judicial Service Commission for appointment to the KwaZulu-Natal High Court bench, with the final decision now resting with President Ramaphosa.
His appointment followed interviews by the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) yesterday.
The JSC concluded its public interviews this week, which were held to fill five vacancies on the KwaZulu-Natal High Court bench.
The commission resolved to recommend Advocate Nirghin, citing his legal acumen, courtroom experience, and longstanding contribution to the South African legal profession.
Advocate Nirghin is a respected member of the KwaZulu-Natal Bar, known for his work in commercial and civil litigation.
The final decision now rests with President Cyril Ramaphosa, who will formally appoint the recommended candidates to the bench.
The Commission also recommend the following candidates in the remaining four positions Mr S D Hlatshwayo, Advocate M B Pitman, Ms N Sipunzi and Judge N T Y Siwendu.
