Director: Sarang Thyagu
Rating: 7/5
Aaromaley (O Beloved) is a romantic film that draws its title from the iconic 2010 hit Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya. Staying true to its roots, the film is narrated by none other than Silambarasan, whose voice adds a nostalgic and authentic touch to the storytelling.
Ajith (Kishen Das) is a hopeless romantic, often falling in love only to face rejection, yet his heart continues to live in the world of cinema and dreams. In stark contrast, Anjali (Shivathmika Rajashekar) is a pragmatic workaholic, appearing cold to those around her and viewing love merely as a professional tool tied to her job.
When Ajith joins Life Matrimony, he meets Anjali and is instantly drawn to her. Their opposing philosophies on love and work soon put them at odds: Ajith follows his heart, while Anjali strictly adheres to client needs. Their clash of egos culminates when a client publicly reprimands Anjali, an incident that unsettles Ajith as colleagues applaud her humiliation. This moment unexpectedly sparks a bond between them, leading to a tender romance as both begin to heal from past relationship scars.
Yet, a misunderstanding threatens to tear them apart - leaving the question of whether time will mend their love or if the damage is beyond repair.
Kishen Das delivers a fresh and heartfelt portrayal of Ajith, embodying the lovelorn romantic with sincerity and charm. Shivathmika Rajashekar shines as Anjali, balancing strength and vulnerability. Her performance captures the inner conflict of a woman torn between practicality and suppressed emotions. Harshath Khan provides enjoyable comedic relief, serving as both entertainer and loyal wingman. VTV Ganesh anchors the narrative, with his interactions becoming pivotal turning points that steer the story forward.
Debut director Sarang Thyagu crafts a breezy, soulful romance that blends humor, emotion, and social commentary. His ability to highlight the clash between idealism and pragmatism makes the film relatable and engaging. Siddhu Kumar’s soundtrack elevates the film, continuing his streak of memorable romantic scores after Joe and Aan Paavam Pollathathu, Aaromaley blends fun, longing, and tenderness into a soulful musical experience.
While the storyline may tread familiar ground, the film is a breezy, feelgood romance that nourishes the heart and will appeal to audiences who enjoy stories of love and healing.
