The Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra’s winter season from June 8-29 promises to be another blockbuster.
Principal guest conductor Bernhard Gueller is making his debut, and features pianists including the 2016 Queen Elisabeth International Piano Competition prizewinner Luká Vondráek.
The three other concerts will present another Queen Elisabeth laureate, the Belgian Liebrecht Vanbeckevoort, international violinist Philippe Graffin and pianist Luis Magalhães.
Vondráek will play Rachmaninov Piano Concerto No 3, violinist Graffin will play Brahms, Vanbeckevoort will play Gershwin Piano Concerto in F, and Magalhães will play the Third Piano Concerto by Prokofiev.
Symphonies on the programme are by Schumann (No 4), Rachmaninov (No 1) and Franck, and Bernstein’s Symphonic Dances.
