Cape Town – Alleged Junky Funky gang boss Tasliem “Thaliem” Bianchi has denied firing the bullet which killed a seven-year-old Parkwood boy and has instead blamed a rival gang for the boy’s death.
It was also revealed that last year Bianchi was charged with raping a 13-year-old girl at gunpoint but the case was withdrawn due to a lack of evidence.
Bianchi, 30, who is accused of killing Ezra Daniels in September last year, appeared in the Cape High Court yesterday after filing an urgent bail hearing after spending the last year in Pollsmoor Prison.
According to the State, they have a strong case and several witnesses and can prove that Bianchi and his four co-accused tried to kill Aiden Roman, an American gang member, but missed, hitting Ezra instead.
Police also found primer residue on his hands.
In his affidavit read out by defence lawyer Joe Weeber, Bianchi says his sons, aged one and 10, are struggling financially without him and claims he was employed as a builder at the time of his arrest.
“The so-called eyewitnesses are all affiliated to the Americans gang. One of those women runs a drug den and I submit that they are protecting one of their own who is responsible for shooting,” Weeber read.
“While we were travelling in the vehicle I saw Aiden Brown [Roman] running with a firearm, I assumed it was he that fired the shot that killed one of the children.”
Co-accused Kelly Daniels submitted an affidavit in support of Bianchi’s release claiming she was drunk when arrested and forced by police to sign a confession.
The State prosecutor said the community feared Bianchi’s release would spark a turf war in Parkwood.
The case was postponed to December 6 for arguments.
