Ramayan Week, which is dedicated to reading, reciting and meditating on the Ramayan, which is the pastime of Lord Ramachandra, is observed from March 30 to April 5, and Rama Naumi, the appearance day of Lord Ramachandra, follows on April 6.
Krsangi Radhe dasi, the communications director of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (Iskcon) SA, said the Ramayan Week brought communities together to reflect on and engage with the discussion, lessons, and cultural heritage rooted in the Ramayana.
"In a world riddled with worry, suffering and uneasiness, the Ramayan is a perfect pastime to reflect on the teachings of God, giving us the basis of living a happy and peaceful life. The Ramayan depicts the life of Lord Ramachandra, showing strength in leadership, warm and healthy relationships, and so many other practical teachings that we can imbibe in our daily life."
The Hare Krishna Temple in Chatsworth will host a Rama Naumi festival on Sunday, April 6.
The event is free and all are welcome.
