The centennial celebrations - celebrating the life and teachings of Bhagawan Shri Sathya Sai Baba - will be held on June 28 at the outerfields of the Kings Park Stadium in Durban at 3pm.

The event is one of several being held in the build-up to the 100th birthday of Sai Baba on November 23, 2025, a guru and philanthropist.

Vernon Chetty, one of the event organisers, said: "As the universe unites to commemorate the 100th birthday of our beloved Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, it becomes imperative to reflect upon the profound essence and significance of his life and teachings of universal love and selfless service.

"By advocating the principle of 'Love All, Serve All', he inspired a number of individuals to rise above narrow prejudices and embrace the broader race, the human family. Even after a century, the crest of human values stands firm in the foundation of love and service.

"The 100th birthday is more than a mere chronological milestone. It is a clarion call to rejuvenate and recommit to his ideals. In an era marked by rapid technological advancements and moral dilemmas, his teachings offer a compass, directing humanity towards a future anchored in love, empathy, and unity."

"To this end, a group of Sai aspirants are coming together to progress the teachings of Bhagawan Shri Sathya Sai Baba, through raising consciousness by singing 100 bhajans and permeating love and light to the world and being his ambassadors to promote his teachings."

Chetty said they were expecting about 10 000 devotees, who would attend dressed in white.

"We are referring to them as 'soldiers in white'. Everyone is expected to be seated by 2.45pm. We will start off with Vedic chanting and then Kevin Akaloo and friends will render 100 bhajans in honour of the centennial celebrations.

"Earlier this month, we started a series of events at abodes of peace at different sai centres. The next one will be held tonight at the Varsity Drive Sai Centre from 7pm to 8pm. Another will follow on Sunday at 8am at the Umkomaas Sai Centre."
