THE Bayview Community Police Sub Forum has divided the area into six colour-coded zones to improve communication, increase police visibility, and strengthen community safety.

Yogin Moodley, the PRO of the Bayview Community Policing Forum (CPF), said residents are encouraged to join their zone's WhatsApp group and participate in upcoming meetings to support this new initiative

He said because of the vast geographical size of the area, it was necessary to cluster the streets into six zones.

The sub forum operates under the CPF.

“This move will ensure every area has proper representation, while also streamlining communication around safety alerts, crime prevention notices and community activities,” said Moodley.

He added that each zone would elect its own street captains and zone leaders.

“The sub forum will  host a series of street and zone meetings in the coming weeks. Residents are encouraged to participate actively and to join their official zone WhatsApp group to stay updated,” he said.

The six zones cover all areas of Bayview, including Lenny Naidu Drive and surrounding streets, Summerfield Road, Unity Avenue, and informal settlements such as eManyaleni, New Village and Snake Park.

A colour-coded map has also been prepared to help residents identify which zone they fall under, Moodley said.
