TO SUPPORT survivors of domestic violence, Phoenix Child Welfare is gearing up for its much-anticipated second Barnyard fundraising event, dedicated to benefiting the Sahara Shelter. The event is set to take place at The Barnyard Theatre in Suncoast on Friday, November 7, at 7pm.
This year's production, titled The Final Countdown, is a journey through decades of timeless classics - songs that will inspire audiences to sing, dance, and forge connections with both old friends and new acquaintances alike.
Following the success of last year’s sold-out event, which left audiences awash in the spirit of community and charity, this initiative aims to raise vital funds needed for the Sahara Shelter.
Founded in 1994, the Sahara Shelter has been a lifeline for countless women and children fleeing from the harsh realities of domestic abuse. As a proud affiliate of the National Shelter Movement, the shelter operates tirelessly, providing essential emergency accommodation, counselling, and practical support for families in crisis.
“Every rand raised at this event goes directly toward keeping the lights on, ensuring survivors have food, counselling, security, and the opportunity to rebuild their lives,” said Raj Saroop, the chairperson of Phoenix Child Welfare.
There will be prizes for “Best Dressed” and “Best Impersonation,” encouraging everyone to get into the spirit of the evening.
Tickets are available for R220 per person, with all proceeds dedicated to the Sahara Shelter. For bookings and enquiries, call Aroona on 079 525 9026, Chantal on 071 672 2024, or Nadia on 065 912 0749. A menu is also available upon request.
