Multi-award winning rapper Kwesta has reached two highly significant milestones that undeniably solidify his spot as the best hip-hop artist in South Africa.

The rapper’s critically acclaimed album DaKAR II has officially been certified platinum and his hit single ‘Ngud’’ featuring Cassper Nyovest ( also one of 2016’s best dressed men) has been certified five-times platinum.

The news follows just after Kwesta walked away with six awards at the 23rd edition of the South African Music Awards. He is currently the only local rapper to walk away with this number of awards in SAMA history.

Kwesta has been in the industry for over ten years and during this time, he has been a consistent artist with three solid albums to his name. It might have taken a decade for SA to recognise his hard work but the ‘king of African rap’ declared DaKAR II his best work to date and therefore feels deserving of these accolades. There’s also no denying the impact this album had in opening doors across the continent for the ‘Ngud” hitmaker.
