Elaine joins Tems as a special guest on the "Born In The Wild Tour"

R&B sensation Elaine is set to join Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Tems as a special guest on the "Born In The Wild Tour" on March 20th at The Dome in Nasrec,delivering her soulful vocals and chart-topping hits to the stage. Known for her breakthrough EP Elements and her unique style, Elaine has captivated audiences both locally and internationally. Her presence on the tour promises to add an unforgettable South African flair to this extraordinary event.

It's an exciting time for Elaine, who has been nominated for Best R&B Song for Love Me Slowly from her debut album Stone Cold Heart.

GQ caught up with Elaine to discuss the tour and her upcoming projects.

GQ: How does it feel to be part of Tems’ Born In The Wild Tour?

Elaine: It’s so exciting! Tems is a huge inspiration on what it means to be an African R&B artist on a global level and I’m grateful to share the  stage with her.  

GQ: What can fans expect from your performances on this tour? 

Elaine: My heart in purest form! There’s nothing I love more than being on stage and performing the songs that are the soundtrack to my life.

GQ: Your breakthrough EP Elements introduced your unique  sound to the world. How do you think your music has evolved  since then?

Elaine: My music has evolved in so many beautiful ways. I’ve found myself in new pockets sonically, and I’ve grown more comfortable and confident in my voice and songwriting. I have no fears or boundaries.

GQ: How has the reception of your debut album Stone Cold Heart  been?

Elaine: Heartwarming. Debuting at number 1 across all genres, nationally while being independent is something I do not take  for granted. I have also just been nominated for best RnB song at this years Metro FM awards and more than anything - I am  grateful to my God, my family and my fans who keep me  inspired and hungry for more.

GQ: Can you share any behind-the-scenes insights into your tour  rehearsals and setlist preparation?

Elaine: The set list for this show is  going to be be a fun balance of all my catalogue. I’ve included a  lot of my material from Elements while also including a lot of songs from Stone Cold Heart, which I am so excited about. My  rehearsals are always a fun time. I spend a lot of time with my  team not only mapping out the music but every other detail. From the stage visuals, to the lighting, to the wardrobe and makeup. I love to be hands on and super involved in every  aspect of putting a show together.

GQ: How do you prepare mentally and physically for a tour of this  scale?

Elaine: Prayer, Practice and Pilates! The three Ps.

GQ: What do you admire most about Tems as an artist?

Elaine: I love how she’s unapologetically herself. You can feel the realness and rawness through every track, and that’s rare.

GQ: How does your music blend with the theme and energy of  Born In The Wild?

Elaine: My music is RnB, with a South African flair to it. A lot of my records have a fusion of RnB and Amapiano, similar to how Born In The Wild is the perfect blend of RnB and Afrobeats.

GQ: Are there any surprises or special moments fans should look  out for during your performances?

Elaine: Where’s the fun in spilling the tea!

GQ: After this tour, what’s next for you? Are there new projects or  collaborations in the works? 

Elaine: I am always working on a million projects at once. Currently, I  am focusing on touring and collaborating with other artists. Be on the lookout for new music soon! I’m dropping a lot of gems and hints on my social media and I’m really excited to be  putting out new music and visuals in the coming months.
