Durban- Police arrested two men for being in possession of a bolt cutter and pliers that could have been used to commit crimes in Phoenix, north of Durban on Wednesday.
In a statement, police spokesperson Captain Nqobile Gwala said the arrests were made after they got a tip off from the neighbourhood watch.
“Police were on patrol at Glencroft when they were alerted by vigilant members of the community of a man walking on the road who aroused their suspicions. Following a quick search of the area, police spotted the man carrying a bolt cutter. After questioning the man, police arrested him for being in possession of house break-in implements,” she said.
In another incident at Phoenix Plaza, Gwala said police were busy observing the area when they saw a man trying to break into a vehicle.
She said police approached the man and searched him.
“He was found in possession of pliers and a car spanner. After questioning the man he was charged for attempted theft out of a motor vehicle. The duo are expected to appear in court soon,” Gwala said.
