DURBAN - Two truck drivers were left injured in two separate road incidents when one was entrapped in a truck and the other jumped out of a moving truck in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands on Monday.
Midlands EMS spokesperson Roland Robertson said that at 2.15pm, Midlands EMS Howick advanced life support paramedics were dispatched to the N3 between Midmar and Tweedie for a motor vehicle crash.
“Upon arrival crews found a patient entrapped in the vehicle with serious injuries. Advanced life support intervention was performed before extricating the patient with the assistance of Howick Fire with the Jaws of Life,” Robertson said.
“Once extricated, the patient was transported to Life Healthcare for further care,” he said.
Robertson said the exact cause of the crash was under investigation by local authorities.
Earlier, Mi7 National Group’s emergency medical services responded to a district road in the Midlands after reports of a motor vehicle crash.
Spokesperson Colin Davids said Mi7 paramedics found that a truck had overturned and that the driver jumped out during the accident.
“The patient, a man, had sustained moderate injuries and with advanced life support interventions, he was stabilised and transported by Mi7 medics to a local hospital for further treatment,” Davids said.
