The culinary world is mourning the sudden loss of the fiery Food Network star Anne Burrell, who passed away at age 55 on Tuesday morning.

The celebrity chef was found unconscious and unresponsive at her home in Brooklyn.

According to a New York Police Department spokesperson, who spoke to Page Six, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her official cause of death has not yet been revealed.

In a heartfelt tribute, the Food Network expressed their sorrow on social media, saying: “We are deeply saddened to share the news that beloved chef, Anne Burrell, passed away this morning. Anne was a remarkable person and culinary talent – teaching, competing and always sharing the importance of food in her life and the joy that a delicious meal can bring. Our thoughts are with Anne’s family, friends and fans during this time of tremendous loss.”

Her family also released a statement to People magazine.

"Her smile lit up every room she entered," the family shared. "Anne’s light radiated far beyond those she knew, touching millions across the world. Though she is no longer with us, her warmth, spirit, and boundless love remain eternal."

Known for her spiky blonde hair and bold personality, she was a familiar face on the Food Network.

She rose to fame as a sous-chef on ‘Iron Chef America’ and went on to host the Emmy-nominated show ‘Secrets of a Restaurant Chef’.

She became a fan favourite as the co-host of ‘Worst Cooks in America’, mentoring contestants with humour and tough love.

She most recently appeared in the Food Network competition series ‘House of Knives’, which premiered in March 2025.

While she was best known for her television appearances, she was an author as well.

Her cookbooks, ‘Cook Like a Rock Star’ and ‘Own Your Kitchen’, were both bestsellers.

She is survived by her husband Stuart Claxton, whom she married in 2021, his son Javier, her mother Marlene, sister Jane, brother Ben, and her children Isabella, Amelia, and Nicolas.
