Former “Big Brother Mzansi” contestant Ash-ley Ogle has spoken openly about her split from fellow housemate Sweet Guluva (real name Akhonamathemba Mbele).

She appeared on “Drink or Tell The Truth”, a YouTube show hosted by media personality Lasizwe Dambuza on Thursday, September 12, where she addressed their relationship and the fan support that followed her exit.

Ogle and Guluva’s romance began in the “Big Brother” house, where their bond quickly became a focal point of the season.

Their relationship faced its first major test when Ogle was unexpectedly evicted in a surprise Monday night twist, leaving Guluva emotional.

Despite trying to continue the relationship after the show, she revealed that things did not work out between them.

The 26-year-old reality star revealed that the breakup was not her decision, adding that she had no choice but to go with it.

“I’m going to just say that Sweet Guluva broke up with me. I didn’t break up with him. So obviously, I was forced to go with it,” she said.

Dambuza probed further in an attempt to find out why Mbele might have walked away.

Ogle explained that she felt there was a difference between Sweet Guluva, the reality star and Akhonamathemba Mbele, the person behind the name.

“I believe I was a fan of Sweet Guluva and was in love with him. I’ll still say I am still in love with him, and I like him.

“I don’t particularly like Akhonamathemba, but I loved him and still am in love with him. I think that Sweet Guluva was in love with me, and he liked me, but Akhonamathemba didn’t see us as a couple,” she said.

She also admitted she did not find his explanation convincing, adding that she does not recall the reason well, calling it “invalid”.

“Basically, to me it seemed that Akhonamathemba never had plans for Ash-ley Ogle; it was only Sweet Guluva who had plans for her,” she shared.

She further addressed the “GoFundMe” campaign that fans created for her after her eviction. The page was set up by supporters who wanted to help Ogle walk away with something after losing the chance to win the R2 million prize.

Fans from across South Africa and beyond contributed, sending messages of encouragement alongside donations.

However, Ogle cleared the air on the matter and made it clear that she did not approve of the campaign, especially after she felt that she was being controlled by the donors.

“I just said, ‘if you’re going to control me like this, you can just take your money, because I don’t like people telling me what to do’.”

“I don’t like being told what to wear, what to say, or how to behave,” she said, emphasising her independence.

Ogle added that the money went back to the donors who shared it among each other.
