Award-winning folk musician Bongeziwe Mabandla is set to return to SA's stages this month following the success of his “amaXesha” tour and several sold-out shows throughout Europe last year.
Mabandla confirmed his “Solo” tour, along with the preview of new tracks on X recently
Mabandla’s tour is set to kick off on October 16 at Hue Café in Durban, before heading to other parts of the country like Gqeberha, Makhanda, East London, Johannesburg, Pretoria, Stellenbosch, Muizenberg and Cape Town.
Each show is set to be a powerful celebration of Mabandla’s journey with music.
Since the release of his album “amaXesha” in 2023, Mabandla has taken his mesmerising sound to international audiences.
He embarked on a “amaXesha” tour that spanned South Africa, Europe, the United States and Latin America. The tour featured multiple sold-out shows across key cities, deepening his connection with global audiences while continuing to honour his roots.
The “Jikeleza” singer also performed at sold-out international venues, including London's 100 Club and the Reeperbahn Festival in Germany.
The musician announced on his social media that tickets for his seven shows are already sold out.
Mabandla emphasised the significance of performing for his South African audience, stating that the tour represents a meaningful shift for him to slow down, connect with his people, share new music, and engage in a deeper, more personal way, highlighting his eagerness to experience the spirit of connection with his fans across South Africa.
“This tour is my way of slowing down, listening deeply, and meeting my people. I’ve spent years travelling, performing at many venues, and now I want to walk into rooms with fans, share new music, hear from you, and feel the spirit of our connection.
"I can’t wait to see you all across South Africa,” said Mabandla.
Fans will get to experience his music in venues carefully selected to reflect the depth and intimacy of his music. This tour is not only a showcase of his artistry but will also be a homecoming for a musician who has transformed the African soul genre.
He will be previewing new unreleased songs, and the audience can also expect a moving set featuring favourites from his past albums, including "Umlilo", "Mangaliso", "iiMini" and "amaXesha".
The nationwide tour will close on November 19 with a special fundraiser at London’s legendary Fabric nightclub for Bridges For Music.
