Sean “Diddy” Combs has on Wednesday, July 2, been cleared of the more serious charges he faced but the music mogul has been found guilty of two charges of transportation for prostitution.
This is in relation to his former partner Cassie Ventura and most recent ex-girlfriend, referred referred to as Jane Doe, as well as escorts.
According to various reports, the maximum sentence for this is 10 years in prison.
However, the jury in his high profile New York City trial found the rapper not guilty of the more serious charges of sex trafficking and racketeering.
Legal experts believe that his defence team will be somewhat satisfied with the outcome.
Sky News US correspondent Martha Kelner explained: "As a first time offender, it's very unlikely that Combs will receive the top end of that prison sentence"
However, when asked whether it's likely that Combs would receive a custodial sentence for the two guilty verdicts, Kelner said: "that's impossible to say right now".
"We don't yet know what the date for the sentencing is... it will be for them to weigh up just what sentence they will give," she adds.
"It is unlikely he would receive the top end of that sentence simply because Sean Combs is a first-time offender."
In response to the verdict, prosecutor Maurene Comey said that they oppose this application and that the government will seek a 20-year maximum sentence for Combs.
Meanwhile, the 55-year-old's lawyer Marc Agnifilo has asked the court to release him from the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, where he has been detained since his arrest in September last year.
Sky News also reported that Diddy made a praying hands gesture as a way to that the jury, following their verdicts.
