Mariah Carey has reignited her long-running feud with Jennifer Lopez.
The singer, 56, insisted during a live interview that she still does not know the fellow singer more than 20 years after her original remark went viral.
She made the remarks while appearing on Bravo’s “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen”, where she was asked to revisit her now-legendary comment about Lopez, 56, from 2003.
During a German TV interview at the time, when questioned about the performer, Carey responded simply: “I don’t know her.”
The line went on to become a pop culture meme and has followed both stars ever since.
Carey has now said: “The thing is, I was being honest when I said it. So I don’t know how it became so big. Honesty isn’t really something that becomes big most of the time.”
Cohen pressed further, noting how the phrase had become a staple of fan conversations and asking whether anything had changed between the two women.
Carey sighed and replied: “How could I suddenly know her, you know?”
The studio audience erupted in laughter, while clips of the exchange quickly spread across Instagram. Fans praised the singer as “forever iconic,” with one user calling her the “queen of shade”.
Lopez has previously rejected Carey’s claim.
Appearing on “The Wendy Williams Show” in 2016, she described her rival as “forgetful” and insisted the pair had met “many times”.
But Carey doubled down in a separate appearance on “Watch What Happens Live”, the same year, telling Andy: “Apparently, I’m forgetful. Because I don’t remember the fact that it was like, ‘Hi, I’m so and so,’ and then we moved on. I don’t know her. Like what am I supposed to say?”
Carey also took the opportunity to discuss another famous feud – her clashes with Eminem.
Asked whether the conflict began when the rapper wanted her to play his mother in the 2002 film “8 Mile”, she replied: “There is truth to that. I really don’t care. Whatever he said, then I’m that. Fine. Not really, but that’s a rap lyric.”
Eminem has traded lyrical jabs with Carey for years, while she responded in 2009 with her hit single “Obsessed”, widely interpreted as a parody of him.
Carey, who was married to Nick Cannon from 2008 to 2016, also addressed a lighter topic when asked about her ex-husband’s decision to insure his testicles for $10 million.
Rolling her eyes, she said: “Lord, help me.”
Cannon is father to Carey’s 13-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe.
