As time marches on, the sharp pangs of loss can gradually change into bittersweet memories that honour the lives of those we cherish.
This is especially true for “The Mommy Club” star Ratile Mabitsela, who has recently taken to social media to reflect on her late husband, Elias Lehlogonolo Mabitsela, one month after his tragic passing.
Ratile took to social media to express her profound sense of loss while acknowledging the kindness she had received from her community.
In an emotional Instagram post, she wrote: “A month later, and the journey of grief remains heavy. I am deeply grateful for the outpouring of love and support from family, friends, colleagues, acquaintances, and my online family and friends.
"Each kind word, prayer, and gesture has brought us comfort and healing during this turbulent time. Thank you for standing by us, embracing us with kindness and strength.”
She also extended her gratitude to @cartelfuneralhome_ for their compassionate support in organising a dignified send-off for Elias, reflecting the significance of community during times of loss.
The heartfelt regards did not go unnoticed, as friends and fans showered Ratile with comforting messages in the comments section.
Jacqueline Ngarande wrote: “Sending you love and light. John 14:27: I am leaving you with a gift - peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give.”
Nontando Madlamini wrote: “I’m so sorry for your loss, my love. May the Holy Spirit keep comforting you and your beautiful family.”
Ncediwe Gumede wrote: “I have been coming to your profile just to check for any updates on your wellbeing. I’m so sorry for everything you are going through, and may God embrace you in his loving arms.”
The sad news of Elias's passing was made public in a family statement released on February 12, wherein they expressed: “It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved brother and son, Elias Lehlogonolo Mothapo Mabitsela.
"We are still coming to terms with this devastating loss and kindly request that our family be given the space and privacy we need during this incredibly difficult time.”
In a touching moment, the family thanked the community for their support and heartfelt condolences, seeking continued respect for their privacy as they navigate this painful chapter of their lives.
“We appreciate the love and support we have received thus far and ask that you continue to respect our family's privacy as we grieve, and we further request that you keep us in your prayers,” they wrote.
Interestingly, last year, there were unsubstantiated rumours regarding the couple potentially parting ways, which both Ratile and Elias strongly refuted.
