Kylie Jenner shatters the 'talentless' stereotype with her acting debut in Charli XCX’s 'The Moment

For years, the Kardashians have had critics rolling their eyes and calling them “talentless”.

Reality TV royalty? Yes. Social media mavens? Absolutely. But acting chops? Pfft, apparently not… until now.

It seems the family is slowly showing the world they might actually have more to offer than fashion, selfies and drama.

Kim Kardashian made her acting debut way back in 2009 on "CSI: NY", playing a femme fatale. She later appeared in films such as Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor (2013) and the star-studded Ocean’s 8 (2018).

But it was 2023 that really made people sit up and take notice, when Kim starred in "American Horror Story: Delicate as Siobhan Corbyn", a publicist tangled in secrets and suspense. Critics admitted, reluctantly, perhaps, that Kim held her own among seasoned actors.

Kim is currently filming "All’s Fair", a Hulu legal drama where she plays Allura Grant, a sharp, high-powered divorce lawyer navigating cutthroat courtroom battles. With co-stars like Sarah Paulson and Glenn Close, it seems Kim might finally be shaking off the “talentless” label for good.

Meanwhile, Kylie is stepping into her first proper acting role in the A24 film "The Moment", starring opposite Charli XCX. The movie, based on an original idea by the singer, explores the chaotic, glittering pressures of fame and the music industry. 

It couldn’t be more timely. Hollywood has always glamorised fame, but today’s entertainment world is a whole different beast: social media followings, influencer culture, and the constant scrutiny of fans and tabloids make stardom feel less like a dream and more like a pressure cooker.

By focusing on these modern-day pressures, the film promises a story that feels raw, real, and surprisingly relatable even for those of us not performing for millions of followers.

The reality star has admitted that being in her late twenties has given her the confidence to experiment, and acting seems to be her latest playground. 

Who knows what comes next? Kardashian could land a major blockbuster, or Jenner could become the next indie darling? Whatever happens, we’ll be watching, partly in awe, partly in disbelief, and, of course, to be entirely entertained either way.
