Gallery: Melville’s Fête de la Musique

Melville rocked it large on Saturday!

Alliance Francais, The French Institute, Converse and the Meville Residents Assoction put on the second annual Fête de la Musique. The famous 7th Street was closed and venues like Xai Xai, Poppys, Six and Liberation Café extended their restaurants to the streets. At least 5 000 people gathered from noon to celebrate food, music and fun, fun, fun.

Lucky Bean hosted the coolest music from Tumi to The Muffinz. The Muffinz attracted a huge and passionate crowd and were certainly the highlight of the festival.

Earlier on that day Shadowclub attempted an unplugged set but three songs into their set, they got bored and cranked electric guitar style. They were fantastic, absolutely fantastic.

Other artists on the day included Tumi (with no Volume), Nakane Toure and The Means. This little duo was politely put together by two of the baddest rock stars in the country – Cortina Wiplash’s Luandi and The Slash Dogs lead singer, Ryan Tarboton.

But it was The Muffinz who stole the show. They really are one of the great musical experiences this country has produced. Spotted in the crowd were Melville locals like Eric Miyeni and Selimathunzi’s Baby Joe. Hip hop royalty was represented by Khuli Chana who is now a very proud dad.

The party lasted til the wee hours of the morning.
