Gunna will return to South Africa in 2026 as the headliner of the Milk and Cookies Festival.
The festival will run from December 24 to January 14, 2026, across Cape Town and Johannesburg, and aims to celebrate music, creativity and cultural exchange.
The event builds on the success of its 2025 debut, which featured Canadian producer Kaytranada and attracted more than 20 000 people.
Next year’s edition promises to expand the festival’s reach and strengthen cultural links between Atlanta and South Africa.
The Atlanta rapper, known for hits such as “Drip Too Hard" and “Push Up”, will perform at Kenilworth Racecourse in Cape Town on January 3 and at the Nasrec Expo Centre in Johannesburg on January 10.
He will be joined by South African acts Vigro Deep in Cape Town and DJ Kent in Johannesburg.
Chase Freeman, co-founder and chief marketing officer of the festival, told “Independent Media Lifestyle” that Gunna’s presence marks a significant moment.
The festival aims to celebrate music, creativity and cultural exchange.

“We’re excited to have Gunna as a legend from Atlanta. Our roots in live music production started with producing shows for hip hop artists like Wale and Kendrick Lamar. Gunna is one of the acts who will help us mix hip hop, R&B and dance in ways that reflect both Atlanta and SA.”
Freeman added that the festival goes beyond music. “We view it as a dynamic platform, like a DJ mix. The line-up’s sound curation takes you on a journey from afternoon to night. We also collaborate with local designers to create capsule collections and merchandise available at the festival, online and during Music Week."
"We want to involve entrepreneurs from all backgrounds, including vendors, filmmakers and visual artists, who can join through workshops, panels and hands-on experiences.”
Jhordan Gibbs, director of business development and strategy, added that the festival is designed to create lasting opportunities.
“We’re committed to going beyond the stage because that’s where the real magic happens. We want to empower South Africa’s next generation of creatives through writing camps, panel discussions and mentorship."
"These initiatives give young creatives the resources and networks to step into industries with confidence and authenticity.”
