Empangeni singer Zethe recently launched her debut album "Breathe".
She is now gearing up for her album tour in Durban, the city that has helped "shape" her.
According to Zethe, the album is a sonic voyage of healing, reflection and resilience.
"The music is rooted in the concept of 'Ikhambi' (music as medicine), providing breathing amidst the chaos we face in our daily lives, reclaiming our humanity, summoning courage, nurturing hope, and finding solace in love and prayer," she said.
To celebrate this momentous release, Zethe and her band are set to offer fans two immersive live experiences of the album at the University of KwaZulu-Natal’s Centre for Jazz on Wednesday, March 26 and The Chairman on Friday, March 28.
"Durban holds a special place in my heart. It’s where I studied music, where I found my voice. Performing here feels like a homecoming, a chance to share 'Breathe' with the city that helped shape me," said the artist.
The album delves into essential themes of mental health, healing and human connection, with tracks like "Ukukhanya" (There’s light), "Uthando" (A Love Letter) and the title track "Breathe", all of which echo Zethe’s personal journey of resilience.
“Releasing 'Breathe' has been a deeply personal and transformative journey. This album is my way of offering comfort and courage to others.
"We all experience moments where life feels overwhelming but if we pause, take a breath and reconnect with ourselves, we can find the strength to keep going. The tour is a chance to share this message in person as we celebrate life, healing and music together," said Zethe.
