From Lauryn Hill to Ladysmith Black Mambazo: top acts to rock Jozi this weekend

The DStv Delicious International Food & Music Festival

Prepare for a feast of the senses at this renowned event, which is returning to Joburg for its 11th edition.

One of the biggest highlights will be the musical performance with Kelvin Momo, Zee Nxumalo, Don Toliver, Kwesta, Sjava and Big Zulu, Oscar Mbo, Kamo Mphela and Distruction Boyz, taking to the stage on Saturday, September 20.

Then on Sunday, September 21, Lauryn Hill featuring Wyclef Jean, YG Marley and Zion Marley will perform while local acts such as Lira, Oskido and DJ Fresh will also entertain the crowd.

The festival will also feature mouth-watering food experiences as well as fashion and art installations.

Where: The Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit.

When: Saturday, September 20 and Sunday, September 21 from 11am daily.

Echoes Between Us with Jeremy Loops and Ladysmith Black Mambazo

This show will be staged for this weekend only, bringing Joburgers a one-of-a-kind musical dialogue between the two beloved South African acts.

Expect new collaborative material, moving reinterpretations and fresh takes on old favourites.

Songs like “Homeless” and “Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes”, originally made famous by Paul Simon, will also be reimagined.

Where: The Teatro at Montecasino.

When: Friday, September 19, and Saturday, September 20, from 8pm.

Knit-in Cinema at The Bioscope

This event allows you to watch a movie while you knit, sew, crochet, and craft in the company of like-minded individuals.

This weekend, The Bioscope will host a screening of “Mamma Mia!”, which you can enjoy while you work on your own projects or take part in a blanket drive by knitting squares that will be assembled into blankets for mothers in underprivileged parts of Johannesburg.

Where: The Bioscope at 44 Stanley.

When: Sunday, September 21, from 2pm.
