This December, the vibrant city of Johannesburg is in for a treat as the American R&B duo “Dvsn” (pronounced division) is set to light up the stage at the “Once Upon a Time in Joburg” event on December 7.

The announcement has been eagerly anticipated by fans, especially after a viral TikTok moment where producer Jermaine Dupri was tasked with choosing the group’s “one night only 2025 concert” potential tour stops.

They had various American cities on a whiteboard, including South Africa’s very own city of lights, Johannesburg. The other cities included New York City, Los Angeles, Houston and D.C.

Initially, South African fans were disappointed when another city was drawn instead of Johannesburg, but the excitement reached new heights when “Once Upon a Time in Joburg” confirmed the duo as the headliner.

Social media lit up with excitement and anticipation, with so many fans celebrating and ready to get their hands on the tickets.

The tickets for Phase 1 and Phase 2 sold out almost instantly, followed by an announcement for Phase 3.

Since the announcement, fans have been flooding Dvsn’s X timeline with requests for their favourite songs to be performed at the show.

In response, the duo reassured South African fans that they are listening, writing, “For everyone in South Africa, more to come working on updates for you all, we seeing everything you’re saying and paying attention.”

The event will be held in Johannesburg at the Fourways Farmers Market, with more details still to be announced.

“Dvsn”, renowned for their hit debut album “SEPT 5TH” and their smooth vocals and captivating performances, are sure to deliver an unforgettable experience.

The two-man band consists of Daniel Daley and producer Nineteen85. Their last album, “Working On My Karma”, was released three years ago, and they have since assured fans that new music is on the way.

The duo was previously signed to OVO Sounds, a record label by rapper Drake. They have reportedly since left and signed a multi-album deal with Dupri under So So Def

As reported by “Vibe”, the “Hallucinations” hitmakers shared in June that they had signed with the label following its new worldwide distribution deal with HYBE America.

“After working with the group on their last album, going to their shows, seeing how much their fans love them, and then when I heard they had just become free agents, I had to sign them and make Dvsn my first signing at So So Def/HYBE,” Dupri said in a statement.

“Once Upon a Time in Joburg” is once again showcasing the global appeal of R&B with “Dvsn”. Previously, the event gave fans American artists such as Xavier Omar, GoldLink and British singer Sasha Keable.
