THE Vishwa Hindu Parishad SA, in partnership with various organisations and the Consulate General of India, recently launched Swãsthya KalyãN – a two-day wellness initiative to address mental health challenges faced by society.

Earlier this month, lay counselling training was held in Durban; and in Johannesburg, Dr Aparna Bapat, a scholar, president of the Ayurveda Association of Florida in US, and president of the International Council for Ayurveda Accreditation engaged audiences on the significance of ayurvedic medicine in finding solutions to global health challenges.

The Shree Ayyappaa Kshetram Temple in Pretoria also hosted yoga protocol, conducted by yoga instructor Maya Bhatt.

Ajen Rooplal, the president of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad SA, said: "By ensuring we are at our best mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually, we will be able to better handle challenging situations we encounter. By neglecting these means, many aspects of our life take a knock and the impact has far-reaching consequences."
