Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s glamorous wedding on the Venetian island of San Giorgio Maggiore was always going to be a star-studded affair, but it’s Kylie Jenner’s outfit that unexpectedly stole the spotlight, and not in a good way.
The reality TV star and beauty mogul arrived at the black-tie ceremony in a custom corseted gown by Turkish-born, London-based designer Dilara Fındıkoğlu.
Described by the label as “icy blue,” the dress appeared strikingly white in many photos, triggering a wave of online criticism from social media users who felt the look was inappropriate for a wedding guest, especially one of such high profile.
Social media lit up with disapproval, with many accusing Kylie of breaking one of the oldest and most universally known fashion rules: don’t wear white to someone else’s wedding.
Here’s what some X users had to say.
@JPS857, wrote: “I saw photo of Kylie Jenner in dress, no question a beauty, I digress, but why wear a white (they said white gray something color) looked white to me, to a wedding and be the only one apparently to do so? That will f*k up all your amazon orders for life, right?”
@WilyRylee joked: “Kylie Jenner wearing a white dress to someone else's wedding is very... her. Anyway, I would've beat her ass during cocktail hour, but that's just me.”
And @MacclassDiane didn’t hold back saying: “What was Kylie Jenner thinking?! Did no one else tell her that you shouldn’t wear anything remotely like a bride either in colour or style to a wedding?!”
While Kylie’s dress blurred the lines between edgy and etiquette-breaking, her sisters kept things elegant and appropriate.
Kim Kardashian wore a shimmering vintage chocolate-brown Versace dress with a crystal mesh overlay, paired with stacks of diamond jewellery.
Kendall Jenner opted for classic black with a sleek, floor-length gown, elevated by a statement-making 250-carat Colombian emerald necklace and earrings from Lorraine Schwartz.
Lauren Sánchez herself wore a stunning custom Dolce & Gabbana gown which featured a high-neck, long-sleeved, lace mermaid dress adorned with intricate appliqué work and 180 hand-covered buttons.
Her cathedral-length tulle veil and classic silhouette nodded to timeless Old Hollywood glamour.
The gown reportedly took over 900 hours to complete and was kept secret from Bezos until she walked down the aisle.
