Yorick Reddy, 23, was first scouted at the age of 17 by one of the leading international modelling agencies.
“It was an incredible opportunity, but I was in matric at the time, and education had to come first,” he recalled.
“So I made the difficult decision to decline, and life moved forward. I never revisited modelling after that - I assumed that chapter had passed.”
Years later, destiny circled back in its own way. Reddy was “rediscovered” at an event when a scout approached him.
“He took one look at me and said, ‘You’re wasting your time studying - you need to be a model.’ Before I could even react, he was already on the phone with top agencies around the country.” Meetings were arranged, a test shoot followed and Reddy was signed immediately.
“For me, it was a reminder that you do not chase what is destined for you - it finds you, even years later,” he said. “Modelling was never something I chased - it was something that kept finding me.”
Reddy often finds comparisons to industry icons amusing.
“Some have referred to me as the male version of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan,” he shared.
“An industry heavyweight once said that I am so photogenic that I cannot take a bad picture and that I exude a natural model presence in front of the camera. It was meant in jest, but the remark stuck and somehow grew legs.”
He clarified that while such recognition is flattering, he does not aim to emulate anyone else.
“She embodies a legendary level of beauty, presence and grace. Even achieving a fraction of what she has accomplished would be incredible. But I do not aim to be anyone’s male counterpart. I remain committed to walking my own path - one defined by authenticity, hard work and a sincere desire to grow in this craft.”

Reddy believes self-defined goals are vital.
“We limit ourselves when we use other people as barometers of success. Comparisons to the greats can show me I am heading in the right direction, but they are not the destination.”
His recent selection as a 2025 Top 10 finalist for Mr India South Africa reflects both his growing influence in the industry and his ability to balance multiple ambitions successfully.
Reddy described the support from fans as both humbling and motivating.
“Every message, repost and vote has strengthened my confidence and reminded me of the responsibility that comes with visibility. Their encouragement does more than motivate me to compete - it pushes me to grow."
"When people believe in you, you find the strength to believe even more in yourself. It inspires me to rise to the moment, to honour their faith, and to bring my very best to the competition.”
He added, “But I must also say this: my fellow contestants are all doing exceptionally well. When the phrase ‘front-runner’ is mentioned, I honestly see at least ten of us in that category.”
Reddy thrives under pressure.
“Pressure is a privilege because it means people see something in you. I stay grounded by leading with gratitude and reminding myself that the journey is bigger than the rankings."
"My only true competition is with the man I was yesterday. I give my best every day and stay consistent. The rest is destiny - and destiny tends to favour effort.”

Balancing two demanding degrees simultaneously shaped Reddy’s discipline.
“Studying a BCom in Accounting and an LLB at the same time was not easy, but I wanted to push myself. Whether I am in front of a camera or arguing a matter in court, I show up with the same purpose, consistency and work ethic.”
He embraces having multiple commitments.
“I thrive when there is a lot on my plate - I love the feeling of not having enough hours in a day. But when you take on that much, you need a solid support system."
"Mine has always been my parents. Their belief in me grounded me and taught me that anything is possible when you commit, silence the noise and back yourself completely.”
Reddy believes in pursuing multiple dreams with intention.
“Law gives me purpose and the chance to make a meaningful impact, while modelling allows expression, visibility and the opportunity to inspire. I do not believe a man needs to choose one dream when he is capable of honouring several.”
Looking ahead, Reddy plans to strengthen his presence in modelling, acting and presenting while continuing his legal career and eventually opening his own firm.
“My vision is a future rooted in authenticity, balance and a deep sense of purpose,” he said.
