South African radio personality  Anele Mdoda has defended online critics who claimed that Lauren Sánchez's wedding dress does not look good.

Sánchez's three-day wedding to Jeff Bezos has been the talk of the town lately, as many were anticipating seeing the intricate details and inspiration behind their big day.

However, the anticipation of the star-studded wedding was followed by backlash after her bridal dress was revealed to the public.

Mdoda chimed in on the conversation as she took to X to share her thoughts about the corset bodice Dolce & Gabbana lace wedding dress, which featured long sleeves, after an online critic shared that “money can’t buy taste”.

The mother of one said, “Just say you hate them. This is a great dress.”

The 61-year-old billionaire and his new wife tied the knot on June 27 in the presence of 200 guests in Venice after getting engaged in May 2024.

However, the former journalist’s bridal dress, which took 900 hours of atelier work, did not receive a great reception from the public after it was revealed on “Vogue” as many online users expressed that they did not like the custom-designed high-necked and mermaid-style design.

The 55-year-old bride revealed in an interview with “Vogue” that she began planning her wedding dress a year and a half ago and also shared that it was inspired by the look of Sophia Loren in the movie “Houseboat” in 1958.

“I researched pictures of brides in the 1950s. I wanted to reflect back, and I saw Sophia Loren and her hands were like this (in a prayer position) and she was in high lace, up to the neck, and I said, ‘That’s it. That’s the dress,” she shared.

Social media users flooded the comment section on the official “Vogue” Instagram account with their thoughts on the dress.

@zo.alm wrote: “Overdose of lace, so many details, a line up of buttons from head to toe, a mermaid shape with a corset, so many geometrical forms. Terrible!”

“It looks like a winter wedding dress,” @kara8107 said.

While @Jess added: “It looks like it’s too tight and from 2015.”
