DURBAN - One person lost his life and six others were injured when the light delivery vehicle they were travelling in overturned on the N3 near Tollgate Bridge today.
The accident occurred on Wednesday afternoon around 3pm.
KZN Emergency Medical Services together with Emer-G-med paramedics attended the scene.
KZN Emergency Medical Services spokesperson Robert McKenzie said paramedics responded to a serious crash involving a single motor vehicle on the N3 highway in Durban just past Tollgate Bridge.
Emer-G-Med spokesperson, Kyle van Reenen, said a light delivery vehicle overturned, ejecting the passengers.
“A male approximately 40-years of age has sadly lost his life and was declared dead upon arrival of paramedics. Four other passengers were treated for injuries ranging from minor to moderate, and have been taken to a hospital for further care.” said Van Reenen.
McKenzie confirmed that six people, all men, were treated at the scene.
Meanwhile, ALS Paramedics Medical Services said paramedics responded to a horrific accident on the M7 eastbound after Main Road, just before 3pm.
“A motorbike and a light motor vehicle had collided on the roadway before the biker was thrown from his bike, landing a couple of metres away. The biker, believed to be in his sixties, sustained fatal injuries and there was nothing more paramedics could do for him, and he was declared deceased on the scene,” said paramedic Garrith Jamieson.
Jamieson said the driver of the motor vehicle sustained minor injuries and was treated on the scene.
