eThekwini municipality opens 12 more swimming pools

Durban – eThekwini municipality announced that 12 more swimming pools have been opened for the public to enjoy, bringing the total number of pools open to 19.

The municipality said in a statement that in addition to the swimming pools that are already open, it has since reported more pools.

The re-opened pools are:

  • Stanmore,
  • Umlazi D,
  • L.T King,
  • Bayview,
  • Arena Park,
  • Alex Bulley,
  • Lamontville,
  • Lahee Park,
  • Ntuzuma,
  • Sutton Park,
  • South Beach Paddling and
  • Tesoriere.

The following swimming pools are already open:

  • Rainham,
  • Durban North,
  • Pipeline,
  • Tiger Rocks,
  • Anstey's,
  • Westville,
  • Kings Park complex both indoor and outdoor.

“The public will be informed of the re-opening of other swimming pools once they are ready for public use,” said the city.

“The Mercury” reported last week that swimming pools were open to the public from 9am – 5pm.

The municipality said the city was constantly monitoring water quality at all beaches and pools to ensure the safety of residents and visitors.
