A post-mortem on a biker who died in an accident on the N3 near Midmar on Saturday indicates he had a wound from a sharp object in the chest.

But there was no bullet wound, as his family had suspected.

This was according to Transport Department spokesman Kwanele Ncalane on Sunday, responding to allegations from Sagen Govender’s family in Durban that he had crashed the bike, killing principal provincial traffic inspector Ashrina Ramklown, after being shot.

The department said Ramklown, 33, died after she was knocked down by a biker she was flagging down for speeding.

Govender’s family have approached a private pathologist to investigate a sharp wound in his chest.

A close friend of Govender said he heard that police officers and emergency workers at the scene had said Govender had received a gunshot wound. - The Star
