The sister of the man shot dead in Durban on Wednesday in an apparent act of road rage has expressed anger that the suspect is still at large and could do it again.
Richard Duxbury, 35, of Margate, was shot by a truck driver on the M4 south-bound just before the Clairwood off-ramp. The driver then fled.
Speaking to The Mercury on Thursday, Duxbury’s sister, Jill Jones, said that the incident had occurred at about 11am.
She said Duxbury had been travelling with her father when they heard a bang. They had then been flagged down by the truck driver.
“Thinking something had happened, my brother got out of the car and walked towards the driver, who shot him without saying anything.”
Duxbury died at the scene.
A police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Vincent Mdunge, said: “We cannot reveal any details into the investigation but police have made substantial progress.”
Duxbury’s funeral will be held next Wednesday at the Rhema Church in Margate.
