Cape Town - Arno Lamoer's corruption trial will now unfold in the Western Cape High Court.

The former Western Cape police commissioner and five others appeared in the Goodwood Magistrate's Court on Friday morning.

It was their second appearance since they were arrested and charged with corruption, fraud and racketeering after an investigation discovered a series of bribes dating back to 2011.

Lamoer is just one of three high-ranking police officials at the centre of the trial. He has been charged along with Brigadier Joe van der Ross and married police couple Kolinder and Sharon Govender.

Lamoer and the three other senior officers were suspended from the SAPS in April pending an internal investigation.

According to the indictment the four received a total of R1.6 million in bribes from Plattekloof businessman Salim Dawjee, who will also be standing trial.

Dawjee's son, representing his father's businesses Towbars King and Towbars Cape, is the last of the six accused.

Magistrate Sean Lea on Friday morning postponed the case until August 28 for a pre-trial conference at the high court in Cape Town.
