New Delhi - Speaking at Hyderabad house in New Delhi on Friday, President Cyril Ramaphosa said he and Prime Minister Narendra Modi had concluded fruitful talks aimed at deepening relations between India and South Africa.
He described India as South Africa’s ‘strategic partner’.
“Considerable scope exists for our two countries to grow and strengthen bilateral relations especially at an economic level,” said Ramaphosa.
He added in the last two years there had been significant trade by India in South Africa.
India is now South Africa’s second largest trading partner.
South Africa hoped to also extend cooperation in the mining, financial, defence and agro process sectors, Ramaphosa said.
He added that concrete deliverables included a three-year strategic programme of cooperation aimed at deepening the bilateral agreement between South Africa and India.
“Our ministers had been advised to implement these programs immediately.”
Ramaphosa said he was honoured to have been invited as the chief guest at India’s Republic Day celebrations on Saturday.
