Durban - A 17-year-old pupil who allegedly stabbed a fellow pupil resulting in his death has been arrested.
On Tuesday evening police said a manhunt had been launched for the pupil.
Gauteng police spokesperson Captain Kay Makhubele said the 17-year-old suspect was arrested in the early hours of Wednesday morning in Tembisa.
"He is a learner at the same school of the deceased," said Makhubele.
Makhubele said it was alleged that two school boys had an argument after school when the fatal stabbing incident took place.
"The suspect took out a knife and stabbed the 17-year-old boy several times."
She said the victim later died in hospital.
"Police are investigating a case of murder," said Makhubele.
The provincial management of police in Gauteng has condemned the violent incidents by pupils in schools.
Makhubele said the pupil has been charged with murder and is expected to appear in court shortly.
