Shailen Singh’s family say they are one step closer to getting justice Ferrel Govender and Darren Govender.
A security boss accused of killing Mount Edgecombe businessman, Shailen Singh, was denied bail in the Durban Magistrate’s Court a short while ago.
Ferrel Govender, 40, the Group CEO of Pro Secure, was denied bail. However, his brother, Darren Govender, 35, the owner of a construction company, was granted bail of R200 000.
Both men were charged with murder and made their first appearance exactly a month ago (January 3).
Singh, 32, who owned Shails Trans, a logistics company, was shot multiple times while seated in his vehicle in a restaurant's parking lot in Meridian Drive, uMhlanga, on December 29.
The father of a now three-month-old son, was shot in the head, neck and abdomen. He died at the scene.
The brothers, who handed themselves over to police on January 1, were charged with murder the following day.
According to previous reports, Singh has possibly been killed over a “love triangle”, which allegedly involved a woman linked to Ferrel.
Following the ruling, Singh’s father, Pradeep told POST, they respected the magistrates decision.
“While we won’t get our son back and will never fully heal, we do believe that we are a step closer to getting justice for him.”
