A house fire along Caneside Drive in Phoenix has left a community in mourning after a man died and a woman, believed to be his wife, sustained severe injuries.
Upon arrival, KZNVIP Emergency Response Teams discovered neighbours attempting to enter the property to help control the fire.
"Despite the combined efforts of community members and emergency responders, the male homeowner was found severely burned and showing no signs of life. Paramedics declared him deceased at the scene.
"The female occupant, believed to be his wife, sustained extensive burns and was stabilised on site before being urgently transported to a nearby medical facility for further treatment.
"At this time, the circumstances leading up to the fire remain unknown. Emergency services, including fire and law enforcement officials, were in attendance and an investigation is currently underway," said KZN VIP Protection Services on its Facebook page.
