FAMILY and friends will pay tribute to 15-year-old Saish Manilall when he is laid to rest in Verulam, today.
The teenager allegedly suffered an allergic reaction to sardines, which led to his untimely death.
It is believed the Grade 10 pupil had eaten sardines for the first time on Saturday, when he suffered the allergic reaction.
His family rushed him to hospital after he had difficulty breathing.
He was placed on a ventilator but later passed on in hospital.
Trenance Park Secondary said they were shocked to hear of Saish’s passing.
“Saish was a bright pupil. He was bubbly with a great future. Our staff and pupils are still at a loss of words to articulate the loss we are feeling.
“We have made special arrangements for our staff and pupils to attend the funeral today. We send our heartfelt condolences to the family and we would like to appeal to the public, to not spread false rumours in the family’s time of grieving. The family needs support. We pray that Saish’s soul rests in peace,” said the school's management.
