A 79-year-old woman intending to buy airtime from a general dealer at a shopping complex in Oaklands, Verulam, accidentally crashed through the front doors of a bar.

The incident happened this morning.

Prem Balram, of Reaction Unit South Africa (Rusa), a private security company, said: "Members of Rusa arrived at the scene at approximately 9.09am and established that a blue Hyundai i10 crashed through the front doors of a bar that was closed for business.

"The woman, who was seated on a chair outside the premises after the incident, said she recalled turning onto the property, but lost consciousness."

Balram informed the POST that it seemed the elderly woman accidentally accelerated instead of braking, causing her to crash into the bar.

He said other than elevated blood pressure, the woman did not sustain injuries.
