A 19-YEAR-OLD has died after he was stabbed during an alleged attempted robbery at a park in Woodview, Phoenix.
Gareth Naidoo, the spokesperson for KZNVIP, said reaction officers who arrived at the scene established that the man and a woman, who used the park as a shortcut, had been enroute to their home in Cornubia just after midday on Thursday.
He said two suspects allegedly attempted to rob them of their personal belongings.
“During the confrontation, it alleged that one of the suspects produced a knife and stabbed the male victim multiple times. The suspects thereafter fled the scene in an unknown direction.
“KZNVIP medical and rescue teams responded to the incident. Tragically, due to the severity of the stab wounds, the male victim was declared deceased on scene. KZNVIP extends its condolences to the victim's family and urges anyone with information related to the incident to come forward,” he said.
Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo, a provincial police spokesperson, said Verulam SAPS were investigating a case of murder and attempted robbery.
