India celebrates 79th Independence Day in Durban with colourful festivities

This morning, the Consulate General of India in Durban held a vibrant celebration to mark the 79th Independence Day of India, welcoming guests to Bharat Bhavan, also known as India House, in Morningside. The event, which showcased India’s rich heritage and cultural diversity, gathered a large crowd of dignitaries, expatriates, and enthusiastic supporters of Indian culture. The celebration commenced with the traditional flag hoisting ceremony, a powerful symbol of India’s sovereignty and a tribute to the sacrifices made for its independence. At the event were:
