IN A MOMENT that could change a life forever, one fortunate South African has emerged as the latest millionaire after clinching the Lotto jackpot of over R41 million in Draw 2571, which took place on August 27. The winning ticket, acquired through the Capitec banking app with a modest R30 manual selection, has ignited excitement across the nation.
The operator of the National Lottery, Ithuba, confirmed the windfall, noting that the lucky winner, whose identity remains a mystery for now, would be informed of their victory through Capitec.
“Participants who play via banking platforms are notified of their winnings directly by their respective banks,” Ithuba said Ithuba in a statement, while encouraging this newly-minted millionaire to visit one of their local offices to initiate the secure claims process.
“We congratulate our newest multi-millionaire on this remarkable win,” said Charmaine Mabuza, the CEO of Ithuba.
“This is a reminder that every ticket purchased has an equal chance of winning, whether bought in-store or through digital platforms. Integrity, independence, and fairness remain at the heart of every National Lottery draw.”
In addition to the jackpot winner in draw 2571, another participant won R931.134.30 on Division 2, with many others securing prizes across the lower divisions.
"Ithuba encourages all participants to check their tickets, as there are thousands of winners in every draw. As digital participation grows, with over 60% of tickets now bought via banking platforms, it is important for players to note that the National Lottery is available on eight banking partners: Absa, Nedbank, FNB, Capitec, Old Mutual, Tyme Bank, Standard Bank, and African Bank.
"High-tier winners receive dedicated support from Ithuba, including complimentary trauma counselling and independent financial advice, to help them manage their new journey with confidence."
