The thrill of winning has taken on a new vibrancy in South Africa following an exciting weekend for lottery participants.

Ithuba, the operator of the National Lottery, has confirmed that two players became multi-millionaires during Draw 2578, held on Saturday, September 20. The winners used different methods of entry.

The first individual, who played via the ABSA banking app, placed a wager of R50 using the Quick Pick selection method. To their astonishment, they walked away with a staggering Lotto jackpot exceeding R18 million.

The second winner, who opted for the traditional route, purchased their ticket at a retailer in Westville, KwaZulu-Natal, wagering R30 with a manual selection method. This participant claimed the Lotto Plus 2 jackpot, which stands at an impressive R8 million.

Ithuba's CEO, Charmaine Mabuza, said: "Congratulations to both jackpot winners. It’s rewarding to see participants using different ways of playing, which shows that we have truly created a convenient way of playing for different South Africans. Whether it's digital, in-person, Quick Pick, or manual selection, there's a way to play for everyone."

With a commitment to ensuring that winners receive the support they need in their newfound extraordinary circumstances, Ithuba offers high-tier winners dedicated assistance. This includes complimentary trauma counselling and independent financial advice, designed to help them navigate the exciting yet challenging waters of sudden wealth with confidence.
