HUNDREDS gathered in Phoenix to bid farewell to Yogandran "Sugar Popz" Chetty, 36, who was killed in a hit at a local car wash in Phoenix on Friday.
While some condemn him as an alleged crime boss, many in the community remember him as a generous benefactor who supported families in need.

Heavy police presence marked the funeral where several motorists were arrested for reckless driving during the procession.
The funeral service drew mourners from all walks of life that described Chetty as a giving and kind man.

His friend of more than 20 years, Marilyn Aroomoogam, said he took care of her children like they were his own.
“I knew Popz from childhood when we both lived in Sportpark. We lived in the same building. We rented the top, while his family rented the bottom floor.

“He always wanted the best for everyone which is why there are so many people here today, grieving the loss of a great man. He was generous with my children after my husband was killed nine years ago. He treated my children like his own, which he did with many children. He was our saviour and will be missed dearly,” said Aroomoogam.
However, many people commented on social media describing Chetty as an alleged drug lord and crime boss.
