FERREL Govender, the CEO of Pro Secure accused of killing businessman Shailen Singh in an alleged love triangle shooting, returns to court for a fresh bail application after previous attempts were denied.

His brother, who was also charged in the murder, is already out on R200,000 bail.

Govender, 40, will make his bail bid in the Durban Magistrate’s Court, today (Monday). The brothers were charged for the murder of Shailen Singh in January this year.

The 32-year-old owner of Shails Trans, a logistics company, was shot dead while seated in his vehicle in a restaurant's parking lot in Meridian Drive, Umhlanga, on December 29, last year.

The father of one was shot twice in the head, once in the neck and abdomen. He died at the scene.

The brothers handed themselves over to police on January 1.

During the initial  bail application earlier this year, it was heard that the alleged motive was due to a “love relationship”.

Singh was being accused of having an affair with Ferrel’s girlfriend.

At the time, Darren, a construction company owner, was granted bail. While Ferrel, a father of three, was denied bail.

Ferrel, who was represented by advocate Michael Hellens, a Senior Counsel,  instructed by attorney Ravindra Maniklall, then took the bail ruling on appeal to the Durban High Court, which was dismissed.

His new bail application will be based on new facts.
