HOPING to bring comfort and smiles to children who are spending the festive season in hospital and those living with impairment in disadvantaged communities, the MEG Foundation has embarked on its Christmas Hospital Teddy Bear Drive.
Therosha Govender, the founder and co-director of the MEG Foundation, said members of the public are urged to donate new or gently-loved teddy bears.
“These cuddly companions will primarily be distributed to children at the Inkosi Albert Central Luthuli Hospital and RK Khan Hospital, with additional deliveries planned for disability centres and children in impoverished or disadvantaged communities.”
Govender said “no child should ever feel alone, especially during Christmas”.
“A simple teddy bear can mean the world to a child in hospital. It is a symbol of comfort, care and hope. Let us unite as a community to collect as many precious teddy bears as we can. Together, we can bring warmth and love to children who need it the most.
“The foundation encourages individuals, schools, businesses, and community groups to get involved and help make this drive an overwhelming success. Whether through donations, collection partnerships, corporate challenges or simply by spreading the word, every bit of support makes a difference,” she said.
