Verulam Secondary School celebrates remarkable 99% pass rate in 2025 NSC results

VERULAM Secondary School is basking in the glow of academic achievement following the release of the 2025 National Senior Certificate (NSC) results, showcasing a 99% pass rate.

The school's Class of 2025 attained 228 subject distinctions and an 82% Bachelors pass rate.

At the forefront of this success is Cayden Reece Packreeappen, the school’s standout pupil who placed first in the Pinetown District and third in KwaZulu-Natal. His crowning achievement was securing the highest mark in physical sciences in the province with 98%.

"These results reflect months of dedication, discipline and perseverance by the matric class of 2025, who demonstrated resilience and commitment in the face of a demanding academic year," said the school's principal, S Govender.

Govender, the school governing body and management team praised both the pupils and staff for their commitment to academic excellence.

"They highlighted the vital role played by teachers who invested countless hours in extra lessons, holiday programmes and continuous pupil support, ensuring that every learner was given the opportunity to reach their full potential. Parents and the broader school community must also be acknowledged for their invaluable support, encouragement and partnership throughout the year.

"As Verulam Secondary School celebrates these phenomenal results, the achievements of the Class of 2025 will long be remembered as a testament to what can be accomplished through hard work, collaboration and a shared vision for success."
